I'm a community activist who has been hacking with ruby since 2005, and look forward to finding new ways to make software useful to the world, together.
When I heard about Greg's idea for Ruby Mendicant U., I was devouring his Ruby Best Practices book, chapter by chapter. The idea sounded like an active extension of that book, with its unique emphasis on teaching software design through diving into real-world code, so how could it not be great? I took the first course in September 2010 and have been actively involved in the alumni network since, watching us grow into a community far beyond what Greg or any of us could have imagined.
At MU, I coordinate the one-on-one mentoring program and help to develop MU's broader social mission, including organizing the Hackfest for Great Justice in October. I was part of the team that built the website for SWAN. I joined the MU staff in September.
